Howard began his acting career at the age of 12 in Hartford, CT, performing in The Producing Guild’s production of Take Me Along., and going to appear in seven different productions with them over the next several years, includingThe Rothschilds, The Fantasticks, Do I Hear A Waltz?, and starring in all three of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach plays,.
Howard earned his BA in Dramatic Literature from Vassar College, where he founded The American Theater Company, directing most of its productions and also appearing as an actor in The Iceman Cometh (Hickey) and Of Mice and Men (George). When the company moved to NYC in the late 90's, Howard directed its productions of The Dog (American premiere, Todo Con Nada), On The L (Expanded Arts), and Street Scene (Signature Theater).
He also directed the premiere of Eugene O'Neill's one-act Recklessness at The Provincetown Playhouse for The Playwright's Theater, and the world premiere production of Elmer Rice’s Court of Last Resort at the Culture Project.
Most recently, Howard appeared in his own play "A Star Has Burnt My Eye" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) and on tour in the Northeasr. He studied acting and directing with Jose Quintero in Los Angeles and in NYC, and acting with Estelle Parsons in New York, and is an alumni of the Lincoln Center Ditector's Lab.
